New hope for allergic dogs

By August 3, 2017 Blog post

There is a new drug available to help dogs suffering from allergic dermatitis. Many of these dogs will show signs such as itchiness and be licking their paws constantly. A new medication called Apoquel is helping many of these dogs get some relief. In the past a downloadlot of these dogs were treated with steroids, which are usually very effective but come with many side effects, the most noticeable of which are drinking and peeing excessively and increased appetite. Apoquel does not have these same side effects and usually starts working within 24 hours. It is not for every dog but is definitely a consideration for those that have severe side effects or need long term control. Ask us for more information.
